Have your say and help keep Brampton a Green City

Urban Forest Management Plan and Parkland Dedication Strategy surveys now available online

BRAMPTON, ON (March 14, 2022) – The City of Brampton has launched an Urban Forest Management Plan survey and a Parkland Dedication Strategy survey to enhance community trees and parks.

Urban Forest Management Plan survey
The City’s first Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP) draft summary is ready for community input.

Brampton’s urban forest includes all trees and their growing environments on both public and private lands within the City’s boundaries. The UFMP will provide strategic direction to sustain and enhance Brampton’s urban forest by protecting existing trees and expanding the tree canopy.

In this draft summary, the City has identified 36 actions to do so, based on research, analysis and engagement to date.

The UFMP is part of Brampton’s Grow Green Environmental Master Plan. The UFMP also addresses the Brampton 2040 Vision and Community Energy and Emissions Reductions Plan (CEERP) targets to plant one million trees in Brampton by 2040.

Residents and stakeholders are invited to share their thoughts on the draft summary online from March 11, 2022 to April 1, 2022. Visit www.brampton.ca/trees to take the survey.

Parkland Dedication Strategy survey
The City is committed to supporting its many parks and natural heritage lands. The City’s new Parkland Dedication Strategy aims to address the need for more green space in Brampton’s growing community. The strategy will help inform the new Parkland Dedication By-Law and further the recommendations of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan, 2017.

The initial study for the strategy is ready for community input. Residents and stakeholders are invited to share their thoughts on the study online from March 11, 2022 to April 1, 2022. Click here to learn more and take the survey.
