Calling all environmental change-makers in Brampton!

​Join the Centre for Community Energy Transformation as a board member; nominate an individual or business for the Grow Green Awards

BRAMPTON, ON (February 2, 2022) – The City of Brampton has two new opportunities for individuals, businesses and organizations in the community.

Centre for Community Energy Transformation (CCET)
Brampton City Council has unanimously approved the recommendations of the CCET Advisory Task Force, including the re-allocation of existing capital funds from the Environmental Master Plan capital budget in the amount of $300,000 towards the new CCET Budget. This funding will help to establish the CCET and support its first year of operations, supporting the City to take transformative climate action. With approved funding, the CCET is now seeking passionate individuals interested in volunteering on the Transitional Board to help formally establish the CCET into a non-profit incorporation.

This skills-based governance board will consist of nine members on a volunteer basis, and a complement of five CCET staff. The volunteer board will be responsible for the strategic direction of the organization.

Grow Green Awards
Nominate an individual, business, organization or institution for Brampton’s new Grow Green Awards! These awards will recognize outstanding individuals, businesses and organizations form across Brampton that have demonstrated environmental leadership and have significantly contributed to the Grow Green Vision of conserving, enhancing, and balancing our natural and built environments to create a healthy, sustainable and resilient Brampton.
The four award categories include:

• Climate Change Award – Provided to an individual and a business/organization that have significantly contributed to advancing climate change mitigation and/or climate change adaptation awareness/knowledge and action.
• Stewardship Award – Provided to an individual and a business/organization that has significantly contributed to the advancement of environmental sustainability initiatives related to the conservation and/or stewardship of trees, natural heritage system, water, and/or the reduction of waste.
• Environmental Youth Award – Provided to an individual or youth group that has demonstrated exceptional achievement in the advancement of environmental protection, climate change actions, and/or sustainability in Brampton
• Environmental Legacy Award – Provided to an individual that has provided outstanding personal service and ongoing contributions to advance the Grow Green Vision of conserving, enhancing and balancing our natural and built environments to create a healthy, resilient and sustainable city.

The deadline for nominations is February 28, 2022. An awards ceremony will be held in-person or virtually in spring 2022, following public health guidelines. For more details on the awards and to complete a nomination form, click here.
