Construction is underway on a new outdoor ice skating facility at Chinguacousy Park. Designed in the shape of an irregular ‘canal’ style skating track, it will feature bends that will be configured for skaters with different abilities without disturbing the general flow of skaters. There will also be winter seating and warming areas along the trail.
During the summer months, the ‘canal’ will become a large, shallow reflective pool that will allow some water play as well. When required, the canal can also be drained to provide a large plaza to support summer outdoor events, performances and other gatherings.
The Big Pour at Ching – Starting July 22 at 11pm
Chinguacousy Skating Trail is nearing completion. The highlight of the construction takes place tonight, July 22, starting at 11pm. This is when 1.5 million pounds of concrete will be continuously poured for the trail. This will last at least 24 hours. Members of the public can watch from several spots around the site.
