This month, the Region of Peel is launching a multi-residential organics recycling pilot program to 20 apartment buildings in Peel. As organic waste represents approximately 40 per cent of household waste, and multi-residential buildings represent about 25 per cent of homes in Peel, a successful multi-res organics recycling program would be instrumental in helping the Region meet its waste diversion goals.
The program will first be launched on November 7 at both 1055 Southdown Rd., Mississauga in Ward 2 and at 53 McMurchy Avenue N., Brampton in Ward 1. Building launches will continue throughout the month until November 23.
Each building launch involves a lobby display and Regional staff will be on hand to distribute Kitchen Containers and sorting instructions to residents.
