Events in the Square

FIFA World Cup

The City of Brampton is excited to broadcast the 2022 FIFA World Cup matches live from Qatar at Garden Square in downtown Brampton, pending schedule conflicts. The tournament kicks off on Sunday, November 20, and runs through to the final on Sunday, December 18 in Qatar. This tournament marks the return of the Canadian Men’s National Team to the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1986. Canada finished atop the table in Concacaf qualifying to earn a place in the tournament. Canada’s roster features a number of players that were either born or grew up in Brampton, including: Captain Atiba Hutchinson, Tajon Buchanan, Junior Hoilett, Cyle Larin, Iké Ugbo, Liam Millar, and Jonathan Osorio.

Garden Square will be transformed during every Canada match; life-size cut-outs of Brampton players will be in the Square, providing fans the opportunity to snap a photo with their favourite player. Canadian flags, muskoka chairs and picnic tables will be setup for all matches.  Fans are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.

Wear your Canada proud attire and join us in Garden Square to cheer on the national team!

National Day for Truth & Reconciliation

Enjoy a special concert outdoors in Garden Square, in front of The Rose Brampton, with JUNO Award winning duo, Crown Lands!

In partnership with The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund.

The release of Crown Lands’ upcoming, self-titled debut album— produced by six-time Grammy winner Dave Cobb—marked the arrival of a major new force. Raised in Southwestern Ontario, Comeau (guitar, bass and keys) and Cody Bowles (vocals and drums) bring together arange of influences from folk and blues to psychedelic to prog rock and, drawing on their own intense personal chemistry, create something unique and startlingly fresh.

In 2016, Crown Lands released their first EP, Mantra, and accelerated their relentless touring schedule, which has seen them open for Jack White, Coheed and Cambria, Primus, and Rival Sons. The group’s name is indicative of their substantial ambitions; “Crown Land” is territorial area belonging to the monarch—or, as Bowles (whose own heritage is half Mi’kmaq, an Indigenous tribe from Nova Scotia) puts it, “Crown Land is stolen land and we are reclaiming it.”
