2SLGBTQ+ Showcase & Open Mic Night

Headliner Artist Fee: $150
Set time: 10 minutes max
Number of performances: 5 Headliner Sets
Deadline to Apply: July 1, 2022

Calling all 2SLGBTQ+ musicians, dancers, poets, comedians, drag artists and performers! We’re hosting a 2SLGBTQ+ Showcase & Open Mic Night emceed by Hasheel, a queer South Asian Hindustani Classical Musician, and we want you to perform! This will be an inclusive showcase and open mic space for drag experiments, radical poets, revolutionary music, and unapologetic queer expression. Not sure you want to apply? We’ll have a few sign up spots day of. Note that only pre-selected artists receive an artist fee.

Open Mic Details

Location: The Rose Brampton, Studio 2
Date: July 21, 2022
Time: 6:30-9:45pm (Performances start at 7pm)​​​​​​​

Tentative Schedule

Performances should not be disrespectful or anti- other culture, political or religious views, creed, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, language, national or social origin, property, birth or other status such as disability, age, marital and family status, health status, place of residence, economic and social situation.

​​Selection Criteria

Have you been tinkering with some chords? Whipping up some witty anecdotes? Putting poetic pen to paper? ...Or dreaming about taking up some stage space in drag? This is the open mic night for you!

The selection committee will review applications for:

  • Artists relationship and connection to Brampton and/or Peel Region
  • Overall suitability for the showcase to curate a variety of performances

Priority will be given to applicants who belong to equity-deserving groups, including those who identify as Indigenous, Black, People of Colour, 2SLGBTQIAP, Deaf, Disabled and intersections of those identities.
