The health sciences sector in Brampton is undergoing an exciting transformation!

With new and established companies calling Brampton home, and the recent announcement of Toronto Metropolitan University’s new medical school – the first new medical school in the GTA in 100 years – Brampton’s health sciences sector is on the cusp of an exciting phase of growth.

The goal of the MedTech Task Force is to advance medical innovation in Brampton, including Council’s priority for establishing post-secondary medical education and institutional uses benefitting Brampton residents and businesses.

This Task Force will help

  • find new ways to attract investment to support science, research and commercialization
  • foster the development of Brampton’s health technology ecosystem, and
  • support the development of highly skilled jobs and training opportunities for the medical industry.

Comprised of representatives of the business, academic and development community – and supported by City staff – the Task Force will make recommendations to Council on the future direction of the MedTech sector and the exciting work on the new medical school.

The next meeting of the Task Force will be held on May 30, 2024 in Council Chambers (4th Floor, City Hall), starting at 4 pm.
