Passenger Safety
Rider Guidelines
To ensure you ride Brampton Transit buses safely and comfortably, follow our safety rules. If you do not follow the rules, we may ask you to leave the bus.
Our bus operators are responsible for administering the following transit system policies:
- Riders are required to pay the applicable fare or provide a valid transfer. Transfers must be requested upon initial boarding. Ticket holders may be required to present valid ID. In the event of a dispute, please pay the requested fare and call 905-874-2999 if you have any concerns.
- Don't smoke, drink or consume food in the bus.
- Move to the rear of the bus and exit the bus via the rear doors.
- Aggressive behaviour, yelling or the use of profane or discriminatory language is not permitted. Riders engaging in inappropriate behaviour may be asked to exit the bus.
- Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times on all Brampton Transit buses. Do not wear rollerblades or skates.
- Please don't engage in lengthy conversations with the bus operator.
- Headphones must be worn while playing any electronic media devices (e.g., music players).
- Strollers are permitted providing they don't obstruct the aisles. Please fold your stroller before you board the bus.
- Animals are restricted to “service” animals and dogs on leashes. Small, non-exotic pets – when carried without danger or offense to other riders – are permitted. The owner of any such animal is responsible for its behaviour should it cause a disturbance, nuisance or threat to the safety of any other riders.
- Firearms, weapons, chemicals, toxic substances and flammable are not permitted on the bus.
- Bulky items are permitted – provided there's adequate room on the bus.
