- Phase 1 BRT service (2010 to 2012) will see 50 to 60 new, state-of-the-art BRT vehicles deployed on Queen St., Main St. and Steeles Ave. linking to York Region, Mississauga and Toronto.
- BRT vehicles run in mixed-traffic, using bus-only “queue-jump” lanes, far-side bays and Transit Signal Priority (TSP) at intersections to gain travel time advantage and ensure schedule reliability.
- Frequent service will be provided, combining a mix of local and limited-stop express routes.
- Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) features will facilitate operations and provide passenger conveniences such as real-time information and automated fare collection.
- Service levels will be increased on “support corridors” that feed the BRT lines.
