Over the past four years Brampton Transit has increased service levels of over 25% and has also moved the system from a hub to a grid system.   In moving to a grid based system travel times have been reduced for commuters. Brampton Transit is also participating in the GTA Fare Card system to provide seamless interregional travel.

The City of Brampton has made a commitment to strengthening the role of public transit through an aggressive Ten-Year Capital Budget.  This investment in public transit has focused on significant increases to the City’s transit fleet and support facilities and has involved major service improvements through wholesale route realignments.

Since March 2003, the City of Brampton has invested $2.4 million toward development and support of the AcceleRide initiative.

Through the announcement of  FLOW on March 6, 2007, the Government of Canada has allocated $53 million from the Canada Strategic Infrastructure Fund (CSIF) for the first phase of the AcceleRide project. This federal agreement was signed on January 8, 2008. An additional $42 million will be provided via a memorandum of understanding for the second phase of the project.

The Provincial Government also announced the funding of $95 million towards the initiative in 2006. The AcceleRide corridors were also included in the MoveOntario 2020 announcement in June 2007.
