Utilities - Locates and Contact Information

Utility Locates are a process for identifying and labeling underground public utility mains and cables to protect them from damage during excavation. Different colour paint is used to mark each type of utility such as; orange for telecommunications wires, red for electrical cables, and yellow for natural gas. |

Before starting to excavate for construction, landscaping or any other project, you must notify all utility companies before you dig so that they can locate and mark their underground services. Once all utilities are marked, you can dig safely and avoid possible costly repair charges or even legal action. You can arrange for locates of several utilities through Ontario One Call at 1-800-400-2255. Locate markings are good for one month, after which time you must have them marked again.
