Fill is any type of material deposited or placed on lands, including soil, stone, concrete, asphalt, sod, or turf. The Fill Permit ensures that surface drainage on adjacent lots is not affected by the work performed and that surface features such as swales and catch basins are not altered. It also requires that applicants employ safe working measures and that compliance with City standards is met.
Another requirement of the Fill Permit is that City streets are kept free of debris during the filling or stripping process. As a service, Road Operations staff will inspect and offer advice in an effort to resolve drainage problems throughout the City. The City of Brampton may enforce compliance with the Fill By-Law (143-95).
