We are committed to keeping pedestrians safe. Our Pedestrian Safety Plan is a 41-page document that outlines current initiatives focused on improving pedestrian safety in the City of Brampton. 

Driver Safety is important for all those using Brampton roadways. The City of Brampton looks to help all drivers stay safe on our streets with the following safety initiatives.

Audible Pedestrian Signals Audible Pedestrian Signals (APS) advise pedestrians who are visually impaired when they have the right-of-way to cross at signalized intersections. 
Community Safety Zone Community Safety Zones indicate to the motorist that they are within a zone where fines have been increased. 
Brampton Safety Council The Brampton Safety Council advises Council on matters relating to students, school bussing, bike safety, crossing guards and more. 
Driver Safety Driver Safety Tips and Videos are available to promote safe driving on Brampton roads. 
Pedestrian Countdown Signals Pedestrian Countdown Signals indicate how much time the pedestrian has left to cross. 
Flashing 40km/hr Flashing 40km/h Signs are used to reduced speed limits in front of certain schools during school hours.

Crossing Guard School Crossing Guards are located at over 140 locations across Brampton. 

Red Light Camera Red Light Cameras are installed to reduce the number of motorists running red lights. 
School Travel Planning School Travel Planning is a community-based project that aims to increase the number of children choosing active transportation modes to get to and from school. 
Roundabout Roundabouts are intersections at which all traffic circulates counterclockwise improving traffic safety.
School Walking Route

School Walking Route Program encourages children to walk to school using a designated signed route.  

Speed Display Board Speed Display Boards are pole-mounted devices equipped with radar speed detectors that display the speed of a vehicle to the driver.
Sidewalk Maintenance Sidewalk Maintenance ensures that sidewalks and pedestrian crossings remain safe and free from hazards. 
Road Watch The Road Watch Program is a community initiative that gives residents and visitors an opportunity to report dangerous and aggressive drivers to the police.

Watch for Children Watch for Children Signs warn drivers that there are children in the area that might be playing on or close to the road.

Advanced Street Sign Numbering Advanced Street Sign Address Numbers ensure that motorists can make the appropriate lane change in advance of the intersection.

Zebra Crosswalk Markings Ladder Stripe Crosswalk Markings are available at locations with high pedestrian traffic.

Traffic Calming

Traffic Calming Projects involve setting up measures, devices and techniques to improve neighbourhood and driver safety.
