2011 Favorite Crossing Guard Award
 AJ Martin has been a crossing guard in Brampton for over 25 years. Teachers, parents and students of the Craig Street school nominated Martin for Canada’s Favorite Crossing Guard - an annual contest hosted by Safe Kids Canada and FedEx Canada.
On Dec. 22, 2011, Martin was presented with an engraved plaque for taking one of four top spots in this year’s contest, and the school received a $1,000 grant. Congratulations, AJ!
2011 Children's Safety Award
 Violet Skirten, Brampton’s Crossing Guard Supervisor, was presented with the Children’s Safety Award at the 29th Annual Brampton Safe City Dinner and Award Presentation on November 10th at the Riverstone Golf & Country Club. This award is presented to an individual, business or group who has made a significant contribution to the safety of children in our community. Violet has worked as the Crossing Guard Supervisor in Brampton’s Works & Transportation Department for over 11 years. Her work includes hiring and supervising crossing guards and coordinating school safety programs, such as the School Walking Route Program. Congratulations Violet!
June 14, 2011 - Crossing Guard Appreciation Day
 City Council has proclaimed Tuesday, June 14th 2011 as Crossing Guard Appreciation Day in the City of Brampton. The city has over 176 guards who help thousands of school children cross Brampton’s busy streets on the way to and from school every day.
On June 22nd 2011, a School Crossing Guard Award Banquet was held to recognize all Crossing Guards with over 5 years of experience. See the full listing of award recipients below.
 Of special note is Anne Teixeira who was celebrating 25 years of service. She worked as permanent Crossing Guard for 10 years at Central Park and Greenbriar until she became one of our Relief Guards. A few years ago, she once again became a permanent Crossing Guard at Glenforest and Grenoble. Congratulations Anne!
