Help Snowplows Do Their Job
Thursday, Feb 17 2011, 09:50
Driving during winter conditions can be challenging, especially with snowplows on the roads. Our hard working team of plow operators work diligently to clear snow from the roads. There are a number of things residents can do to ensure efficient and safe snow removal.
Motorists are reminded:
-
Blue flashing lights identify snow maintenance equipment.
-
Snowplows travel at slower speeds than regular traffic.
-
Be patient and give the snowplow operator room to do his/her job.
-
Stay at least 15 m (50’) behind a snowplow.
-
Never pass a snowplow.
-
When encountering a snowplow in the opposite direction, move as far away from the centreline of the road as you safely can.
-
Ensure your vehicle head lights are on so that snowplow operators can see you.
