2012 National Public Works Week 

Brampton celebrates National Public Works Week (May 20 to May 26, 2012) by raising public awareness to our various Works & Transportation services and activities. It also recognizes the hard work and dedication of public works professionals in our community.

2012 NPWW Poster Contest Winner Announced!

Opening Ceremonies - 8:30am to 11:00am at Transit Sandalwood Facility
 
Works and Transportation staff celebrate the start of NPWW.

Grade 8 Tours - 10:00am to 2:30pm
Invited Grade 8s take a tour of two storm water management ponds.
 
Public Open House - 10:00am to 3:00pm
Citizens are invited to drop-in to one of the following locations for a guided tour:

Commissioner's Challenge - 10:00am to 10:30am at Ken Whillans Square
Brampton's Senior Management Team will compete to find out which department knows Works and Transportation best.
Bus Pull Challenge - 10:30am to 12:00pm on Wellington Street
City staff race pulling Brampton Transit buses.
Friday

Service Excellence Awards - 12:30pm to 2:30pm at Williams Parkway Yard
Public Works staff are recognized for service excellence. Backhoe demonstrations will be set up.
Saturday
May 26
Urban Challenge Scavenger Hunt - 8:30am to 4:30pm
Girl Guide and Boy Scout teams race aboard Brampton Transit buses to find Works and Transportation landmarks in Brampton.
 
Other Events:
  • Promoting careers in public works at local schools
  • Poster contest for Grades 1 to 3 - see the winning poster on NPWW banners!
  • Public Works Displays at City Hall Atrium
  • Truck Rodeo - Driver knowledge and skill is put to the test
  • Fundraising - All proceeds raised will be donated to the 2012 United Way campaign
