Calling all MADEM students interested in business continuity…
BEN is a network that was developed by the City of Brampton Emergency Measures Office and is a forum for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Brampton to gain free access to students from the York University Master of Arts in Disaster and Emergency Management (MADEM) program, who will consult with their businesses to create and develop business continuity plans.
Where do you fit in?
As a MADEM student, you will perform the role of Student Consultant advising the SMEs about business continuity. With the help of BEN tools and templates, and the guidance of a Business Continuity Mentor, Student Consultants will develop a business continuity plan for the organization.
Why should you be involved?
This program was, in part, created give students a chance to gain valuable working experience in business continuity as well as to give them the opportunity to network with and learn from professionals already in the field – their mentors. Students are able to network with potential employers in the field. Students also gain confidence in their skills and in the services they are able to provide to the SMEs community, as the implementation of business continuity plans will have an invaluable impact on the ability of the SMEs in Brampton to survive through business disruptions and emergencies, enhancing the long-term economic strength of the community as a whole.
