Dear Chinguacousy Park Tennis Members,
In the spring of 2009 the Community Services Departmeht applied for and received $24.5M in economic
stimulus funds, with equal contributions being shared by the Government of Canada, the Province of
Ontario and the Corporation of the City of Brampton. Improvements made to basic park services will
greatly improve the tennis facility and Chinguacousy Park as a whole.
The renovated tennis facility will boast expanded locker rooms; new floor and wall finishes (in the
lounge area) and improved accessibility throughout the building. Administrative offices will be relocated
centrally to improve sightlines, ease of access and security. New lighting will brighten the interior of the
tennis bubble while improving visibility on ihdividual courts. These improvements will make the
Chinguacousy Park Winter Tennis Centre one cif Ontario's most sought after seasonal destination
locations.
Over the past months, the City has been diligent about maintaining and operating the tennis bubble
throughout major park construction but in recent conversations with the building contractor, concerns
have been raised about public safety. With this in mind, a decision has been made to suspend
operations at the facility for the upcoming 2010/2011 season.
Construction is scheduled for completion in March 2011 with regular seasonal play commencing shortly
thereafter. We do apologize for service interruptions but look forward to celebrating with you at the facility re-opening in 2011!
Sincerely,
David Cooper
Recreation Supervisor
