Citizens Awards

The City of Brampton is proud to offer a recognition program for outstanding citizens in our community who have made achievements within the past year.
On December 7, 2011, Brampton City Council endorsed a one-year hiatus and Program Revision Plan for the Citizens Awards Program. The intention is to facilitate a thorough review of the Citizens Awards Program, and to analyse and assess the award categories and criteria, the ceremony format, and the Selection Committee composition.
The Program Revision Plan will involve developing a Review Committee composed of community representatives and past selection committee members. The Review Committee will assess the current Citizens Awards Program and Selection Committee composition, conduct research to understand how other municipalities recognize citizens’ accomplishments, conduct a survey to obtain comments and feedback from past recipients, research and develop new program elements, and evaluate the financial impact.
As a result of the one year hiatus, the ceremonies for the 2011 Citizens Awards Sports Achievement and Long Term Service will not be taking place this year. However, 2011 nominations are currently in the review process. Recipients will receive Congratulatory Letters of Recognition, with a gift based on their achievement category. A list of the 2011 Recipients will also be placed on the Citizens Awards webpage on the City of Brampton website.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to improve and refresh the Citizens Awards Program.
