Building a Better Brampton
As Canada’s 11th largest city and the fastest growing municipality in the GTA, Brampton is committed to proactively pursuing a responsible growth management plan that will benefit both residents and businesses.
In its Places to Grow legislation, which outlines the management of growth and development in Ontario over the next 25 years, the provincial government has designated Brampton as a high-growth municipality. Currently home to more than 450,000 people, this means that Brampton will play a significant role in shaping the social, economic and cultural identity of the region.
In response to the provincial growth plan, the City of Brampton developed its own Growth Management Program (GMP) - a comprehensive and detailed approach to meeting the immediate and longer term needs of Brampton’s new and growing communities, with the overall objective of growing at a pace that we can afford.
With this policy framework in place, the City of Brampton continues to make strategic investments in public infrastructure to ensure that all Bramptonians can enjoy a high quality of life.
