Advocating for Brampton

As Mayor, one of my primary responsibilities is to pursue at all times relationships, policies and practices that are in Brampton’s best interests.  Bramptonians expect no less.

While City Council legislates matters within municipal jurisdiction, many other significant decisions affecting our community are made at the federal and provincial levels of government.  Often, funding for critical municipal infrastructure projects, such as roadways, recreation centres and post-secondary institutions, flows from programs administered by these levels of government.

In my role as Head of Council, I represent the City of Brampton in formal meetings and discussions with other levels of government, where I advocate for the projects and priorities that are most important to Bramptonians.

In addition, through my participation in the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) as a member of the National Board of Directors and Chair of the Ontario Caucus, I also play a leadership role in setting policy priorities to be discussed with the federal government, and crafting strategies to ensure that municipal issues are an important part of the national agenda.

By advocating for the issues that we, as a community believe in, the City of Brampton is working to ensure that all residents enjoy the high quality of life that they rightly deserve.
