Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board 

The Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board is responsible for the provision of police services in the Region of Peel.  In consultation with the Chief of Police, it establishes the general policing priorities for the Regional Municipality of Peel.

The Board is the civilian body governing the Peel Regional Police.  In that role, the Board is responsible for the police budget, oversees the actions of the Chief of Police, and is the employer of members of the police service.

 

The authority of the Board is established by Section 31 of the Police Services Act and is comprised of seven members:

 

  • Three representatives from Peel Regional Council (Term of four years)
  • Three representatives appointed by the Government of Ontario (Term of three years)
  • One citizen appointed by Regional Council (Term of four years)

All members serve on a part-time basis. The current Chair is Mr. Emil Kolb, Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Peel Regional Council.

In her role on the Board, Mayor Fennell is in contact with the Chief of Police and senior command staff on a daily basis to discuss and promote safety issues within the community.
