How you can make a difference

At 8:30 pm on March 27, 2010, cities across the world will turn off their lights for one hour, sending a powerful global message that it’s possible to take action on global warming. There are many ways Brampton residents and businesses can support Earth Hour.


Residents

Register online at http://wwf.ca/earthhour/ and join the thousands of individuals and businesses around the world taking part in Earth Hour

Turn off your lights from 8:30 to 9:30 pm on Saturday, March 27, 2010.

Spread the word! Tell your friends, tell your family, tell your workmates – in person, via email, on your blog, MySpace or Facebook. The more people that participate, the more successful Earth Hour will be.


Businesses

Turn off the nonessential lights in your buildings, facilities and signage from 8:30 to 9:30 pm on Saturday, March 27, 2010.

If you are a building owner, communicate Earth Hour to your tenants using flyers, posters email bulletins, etc.

Provide information about Earth Hour to your partners, clients, suppliers and other organizations you deal with.

Talk to your offices in other cities and regions. Encourage participation organization-wide.

Encourage staff, colleagues and their families to take part in Earth Hour and commit to long-term emissions reductions both in the workplace and at home.

Let your customers know. You may want to:

  • Include a link to the Earth Hour website on your homepage
  • Include Earth Hour messages in email or printed materials you send to your customers
  • Download a poster to put in your store window
