Born in London, England, Sandra Hames has lived in Brampton (Bramalea) since 1969.
Sandra was first elected in 1991to represent the residents of Ward 11 as a City Councillor, and in 2010, Sandra was re-elected City Councillor for Wards 7 and 8. In addition, Brampton City Council elected Sandra to represent Brampton at the Region of Peel, as the City’s additional Regional Councillor, for the 2010-2014 term.
On Brampton City Council, Sandra is currently the Vice Chair of Economic Development and Communications. She has also served as Chair of Economic Development, Chair of Community Services, Chair of Emergency Planning and Chair of the Citizen Awards in the past.
Currently, Sandra represents Brampton City Council through her participation in the following organizations:

On Regional Council, Sandra is currently a member of the Peel Housing Corporation, Emergency and Protective Services Committee, Emergency Management Committee, Grants Ad Hoc Committee, Intergovernmental Relations Committee, and the Peel Advisory Working Group on Older Adults.
Sandra is also a Board Member for the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) and the Greater Toronto Marketing Alliance Board.
In 1995, Sandra received a City of Brampton Civic Award for long-term community involvement, and in 2002, she received a Queen’s Golden Jubilee medal for Community Service. In 2001, the Chinguacousy Curling Club recognized Councillor Hames with the Marv White Award. The Chinguacousy Figure Skating Club also recognized Sandra by making her a lifetime member.
Sandra is married to Peter and they have raised their three children, Tracey, Mathew and Simon, in Brampton.
