Regional Councillor Paul Palleschi was first elected as a City Councillor in 1985 to represent the residents of what was at that time Ward 2. He served two terms as City Councillor and then was elected to represent the area as a Regional Councillor. With the restructuring of Brampton's ward boundaries in 2003, Paul now represents the residents of Wards 2 and 6, two of the fastest-growing wards in Brampton.
As Regional Councillor, Paul participates on a number of committees at the regional level. He is Chair of the Emergency and Protective Services Committee, which includes Paramedic and Ambulance Services in Peel, and is President of the Peel Housing Corporation, formerly Peel Living, which has over 8,000 units in its portfolio. Paul also sits on the Inter-Municipal Planning Subcommittee. As a member of the Board of Directors for Credit Valley Conservation, his concern for the environment and its continued stability is evident.
With the massive residential growth occurring in Brampton, Paul holds the very busy position of Vice-Chair of Planning, Design and Development. He works with City Council to assure Brampton’s Smart Growth initiatives are in place. Paul also participates as a member of various City Council committees, including the Growth Management Steering Committee and the Transportation and Transit Master Plan Committee. Paul believes in an efficiently run government that gives taxpayers the best value for their dollar.
Paul and his family show their care for the community with participation in various fundraising efforts, such as the Heart Walk for the William Osler Health Centre Foundation. In the last few years, they have raised over $800,000 for the Cardiac Ward. Paul also holds a fundraising event each year with the proceeds going to different charities and organizations in our community.
A resident of Ward 2, Paul is married with two children, and three grandchildren.
