Councillor Grant Gibson has served as a Brampton City Councillor for the last 19 years. He served the first 15 years as a City Councillor and, in the last term, served as Council’s additional Regional seat at Peel Regional Council. Councillor Gibson supports the revitalization of the downtown core and the Queen Street corridor.
Councillor Gibson is a member of all standing City committees. He is the Chair of the City’s By-laws and Licensing Committee, and sits on the Audit Subcommittee. A long time supporter of Brampton’s Flower City heritage, Councillor Gibson was instrumental in bringing the Flower City parade back to Brampton and is a member of the Flower City Strategy Committee. Although no longer a member of Regional Council, Councillor Gibson continues to work closely with the Region of Peel as a member of the Integrated Municipal Enforcement Team (IMET) – a joint organization comprised of City, Regional, and related enforcement agencies.
Councillor Gibson continues to be involved with several community organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Peel, and sits on the Board of Governors for the Sports Hall of Fame. Under Councillor Gibson’s leadership as Council team captain, Brampton won the BBBS of Peel’s City Cup Challenge over long time rival City of Mississauga, which contributed to Brampton receiving the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel’s 2010 Corporate Partner of the Year.
