Committee of Council 

Committee of Council includes all members of Council sitting together to discuss and debate the issues that have been presented to the committee. The purpose is to promote discussion by using less strict rules than those used in a formal Council meeting.  All departments of the city report to this committee.

Committee of Council reports to City Council. Any recommendations made in Committee meetings must be presented to Council for approval, or further discussion at a Council member's request.

Mandate:

Committee of Council meetings are divided into the following sections:

 

By-laws and Licensing

Chair:  Regional Councillor Grant Gibson
Vice-Chair: Regional Councillor Elaine Moore

Matters related to enforcement-type by-laws, including the Licensing By-law and the Sign By-law  

Community Services

Chair: City Councillor Vicky Dhillon
Vice-Chair: Regional Councillor John Sanderson

Matters within the jurisdiction of the City’s Community Services Department, except those which may be considered by the By-laws and Licensing Section 

Corporate and Finance

Chair: Regional Councillor Gael Miles             
Vice-Chair: Regional Councillor Paul Palleschi

Matters related to services to the Corporation, including finance, administration, information technology, human resources, legal services, corporate buildings, property, real estate, public relations and communications, except those which may be considered by the By-laws and Licensing Section 

Works and Transportation

Chair: Regional Councillor John Sprovieri
Vice-Chair: Regional Councillor John Sanderson

Matters within the jurisdiction of the City’s Works and Transportation Department, except those which may be considered by the By-laws and Licensing Section

Economic Development and
Communications

Budget Committee

Meetings:

Committee of Council meets every two weeks, generally on the first and third Wednesday of each month commencing at 9:30 a.m.


Composition:

All Members of Council (10)

The Mayor is an ex-officio member of this, and all other committees established by City Council and carries a vote while in attendance.
