Brampton Appeal Tribunal 

Mandate

The Brampton Appeal Tribunal was established pursuant to the provisions of the Brampton Appeal Tribunal By-law 48-2008 and operates under the authority of the Municipal Act 2001, as amended.   By-law 48-2008 permits Council to delegate appeals under the Licensing By-law 1-2002 and Dog By-law 250-2005 to an independent Tribunal.

The Tribunal decides appeals from certain decisions of the License Issuer as set out in the Licensing By-law to:

  • Grant a license with/without conditions
  • Refuse a license application/reinstate a license
  • Revoke or suspend a license
  • Alter, cancel of impose terms or conditions on a license 

The Tribunal decides appeals from certain decisions of the Poundkeeper as set out in the Dog By-law to:

  • Make any decision the Poundkeeper could make
  • Direct the owner to do anything under the by-law considered proper and in substitution for that of the Poundkeeper

Brampton Appeal Tribunal meets monthly, if required, generally every fourth Monday starting at 9 a.m.
