 Facilities and Programs
A wide variety of accessible leisure and recreation facilities, activities and programs are offered by the City of Brampton.
Rose Theatre Brampton - Exciting professional entertainment offered throughout the year with accessible seating available.
Parks & Recreation - The City offers a wide variety of accessible indoor and outdoor recreational opportunities.
Transit – Brampton Transit offers over 25 fully accessible bus routes.
Library Special Services – The Brampton Library provides a wide range of accessible materials and services, including audiovisual materials, assistive devices, large print books and a homebound service for those unable to get to the Library.
Accessible Parking Provisions – Special parking provisions are in place for vehicles displaying a valid Accessible Parking Permit.
Accessible Parking Enforcement
Assistive Listening Devices - To assist people with hearing impairments, assistive listening devices are available for use in the Council Chambers at City Hall. (Contact the City Clerk's Office to request the use of a device during a meeting.)
Fire and Emergency Services – Brampton Fire and Emergency Services offer assistance to residents with disabilities when an emergency occurs. For information, contact the Fire Communications Division at 905-456-5788.

Policies, Practices and Services
The City of Brampton recognizes that the varied needs of persons of all ages and abilities must be considered. Many policies, practices and services have been implemented to assist with these needs.
Barrier Free Policy
TTY – The City of Brampton offers a TTY (Teletypewriter or Text Telephone) service for persons who are deaf and hard of hearing. The TTY number is 905-874-2130 and is included on all press releases and external communications.
Other/General:
- Agendas and some public notices are offered in larger font and in alternative formats upon request.
- Accessibility awareness and sensitivity training is offered to all City staff.
- A process is approved and in place for the AAC to provide input into the design and development of public building projects, including new construction, renovations and retrofits.

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) offers financial assistance programs for people with disabilities and seniors to fund repairs, renovations, accessibility modifications and home adaptations.
Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC)
The Ontario Government has implemented a number of initiatives that offer property tax relief to qualifying individuals. Property owners who have modified or added to their buildings, specifically to accommodate seniors or persons with disabilities (who would otherwise have to enter an institution) may gain an exemption from taxation for these changes. TransHelp
The Region of Peel offers a para-transit service for people with disabilities who are unable to use conventional transit.
VoicePrint Canada
VoicePrint is a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week audio newsstand, broadcasting full-text articles that are read and recorded by a dedicated corps of 800 volunteers. VoicePrint goes into eight million Canadian homes and can be heard on cable TV, satellite and the Internet.
