Highway 427 Industrial (Area 47) Secondary Plan
In June 2008, City Council directed staff to commence secondary planning for Area 47 in northeast Brampton. Area 47 is about 3,000 acres (1,214 hectares) and is generally bounded by Mayfield Road to the north, Castlemore Road to the south, Highway 50 to the east and The Gore Road to the west.
The following component studies are being prepared as part of secondary planning:
Community Design and Open Space;
Transportation;
Master Environmental Servicing Plan;
Employment Maximization Strategy;
Retail and Institutional Land Use;
Cultural Heritage; and,
Infrastructure Servicing.
The City, in consultation with the Area 47 Landowners Group, has prepared a preliminary land use concept that represents a broad vision for the urbanization of Area 47. A Status Report including the preliminary land use concept was presented to the City’s Planning Design and Development Committee on May 9, 2011 for consideration, where staff received direction to present the land use concept to the public at an open house.
Accordingly, an open house has been scheduled for June 6, 2011, which provides an opportunity for the public to provide feedback on the City’s preliminary land use concept. Please click here to view the public notice with respect to the open house.
Further refinements to the land use concept will be undertaken based on recommendations of the component studies and feedback from the public and stakeholders.
