Lowe’s to Open in Brampton

Lowe’s Home Improvement stores, popular in the U.S., will soon be opening its doors in Brampton. The newest Lowe’s store/warehouse is located at 370 Kennedy Road South, on the northwest corner of Kennedy Road and Steeles Ave. East. The $12,000,000 construction project occupying 145,000 square feet has a planned opening date of December 2007. A second store is also under construction located on the northwest corner of Bovaird Drive and Hwy 410 and is scheduled to open in January 2008. The Brampton stores will among the first of four locations in Ontario
The decision to open up stores in Ontario is the company’s first expansion outside of the U.S. The expansion plan will include up to 100 stores throughout Canada.
Lowe’s currently ranks second in the U.S. market with sales in 2005 of $43 billion next to Home Depot’s sales of $81 billion. Home Depot currently has stores in all 10 Canadian provinces.
