The City of Brampton Economic Development Office was once again successful at the Economic Development Association of Canada (EDAC) Marketing Awards. At the annual awards ceremony “City of Brampton: Issues Affecting the Manufacturing Sector” took first place in the Business Development – Publications (Printed) Research Findings Category.
“With research being one of the key principals of economic development and advanced manufacturing the largest employment sector in the City, I’m thrilled that Brampton has been recognised nationally by EDAC for this award.” Said Jeff Baines, Manager of Economic Development for the City of Brampton.
The Centre for Spatial Economics was commissioned to conduct the research and provide recommendations that could be implemented with the Economic Development Strategy. The report was released in October 2005 as part of Brampton’s first Advanced Manufacturing Symposium. The Symposium was held in conjunction with the opening of Sheridan’s Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Design Technologies.
The EDAC Marketing Awards, this year held in Thunder Bay, annually recognize Economic Development Offices and Agencies across Canada for continued excellence in the field. Brampton competes in the Large City category against municipalities such as Toronto, Calgary, Hamilton and Vancouver.
Copies of the publication, which includes the full research report and highlights from the Advanced Manufacturing Symposium, can be obtained by contacting the City of Brampton Economic Development Office at 905-874-2650 or e-mail edo@brampton.ca.
