The City of Brampton will officially welcome the 2006 Canadian National Triathlon Championships this July. Brampton will be the site of the 2006 ITU Pan American Cup as well as the National Age Group and Elite Championship and Junior World Qualifiers. The official date for the 2006 National Championships will be Saturday July 1st and Sunday July 2nd at Professors Lake Park.
The C3 Canadian Cross Training Club will be the host organization. Canadian Olympians Simon Whitfield and Samantha McGlone have both confirmed their entry at the prestigious 2006 event that is expected to have the largest elite field in Canadian history.
Along with the best age group, junior and elite athletes in the country, C3 will also be hosting their fun, participation based Tri-Cool Relay races. These short fun races allow three individual athletes to do the event as a relay team. The July 1st and 2nd events are expected to attract nearly 1500 athletes and over 5000 spectators from around the world and generate an economic spin-off in excess of one million dollars over the local community.
Race Director Tom Howlett is asking anyone interested in volunteering for the 2006 event to contact him at the C3 office via email at info@c3online.ca or by phone at 905-838-2662. The race steering committee will be hosting an organization meeting in the near future and are interested in the involvement of as any motivated individuals as possible.
