Monday, Mar 27 2006, 12:00

The Brampton Battalion enjoyed a record-setting Ontario Hockey League season on the ice and also at the box-office.
The Battalion attracted a club-record 92,962, an average of 2,734 per game for 34 home dates, in the regular season that ended with a 7-3 victory over the Belleville Bulls to secure the Central Division championship.
Those numbers are 3.9 percent better than the records of 89,465 and 2,631 set last year. They in turn were 21.1 percent ahead of the previous season.
Group sales this season totaled a record 25,093, or 24.1 percent more than the year-earlier total of 20,226, which was 80.0 percent higher than 2003-04. Group attendance accounted for 27.0 percent of this seasons total, compared with 22.6 percent a year ago.
The Battalion drew 49,899 to its last 16 home games, those coming after the Christmas break, for an average of 3,119 per game.
There were a record 10 crowds this season of 3,000 or more, including seven of the last eight, surpassing the eight such crowds of a year ago.
Three crowds from this season rank in the top 10 regular-season attendances in the Battalions eight-year history. The 4,571 who saw the Mississauga IceDogs on March 5th is third, and the 4,214 for the Ottawa 67s on Feburary 26th is seventh. Ranking 10th is the crowd of 3,809 for the Troops season opener September 23rd against the Barrie Colts.
The Battalions record crowd is 4,835 for the London Knights on Feburary 17th, 2005.
