Brampton Mayor Susan Fennell, accompanied by Regional Councillors Sandra Hames and Gael Miles, recently joined company representatives from Monterey Park at the official groundbreaking ceremony of Brampton’s newest office and retail development. The groundbreaking took place on September 14th, 2010 to mark the start of construction on the new site.
The commercial site located at 1 Gateway Boulevard, on Queen Street East between Torbram Road and Airport Road , will offer 50,630 square feet of office space in two 3-storey office and medical buildings and a further 25,500 square feet of retail. Occupancy is slated for April 2011.
Brampton’s new Züm rapid bus transit line, which runs along Queen Street, was a selling feature for Monterey Park. A Züm station stop located at 1 Gateway Boulevard ties in to the “pedestrian-friendly” office and retail site.
“Züm bus will create ultimate accessibility for office and retail employees and will make any shopper’s trip to the upcoming retail spaces a quick and easy destination,” the company stated.
Monterey Park is also developing an office and retail building at 60 Gillingham Drive, located in the southwest quadrant at Bovaird Drive and Hurontario Street. Combined, the two developments will be more than 115,000 square feet.
