According to information released by Statistics Canada this month Brampton continues to be firmly fixed as one of the Countrys Top 10 Communities for Construction Value in 2005. Despite slipping from 4th in 2004 to 7th in 2005, with a Total Construction Value of $1,225,332,000 Brampton once again broke the billion-dollar mark, one of only nine communities to reach this level last year.
Only two Ontario communities, Toronto (1st) and Ottawa (5th), outperformed Brampton in Total Construction Value. Two others were in the Top 10, Mississauga and Markham, ranked 9th and 10th respectively.
Through individual categories Brampton ranked 5th in Industrial Construction; 7th in Commercial; and 6th in Institutional. As a result the overall rankings for Non-Residential Construction Value saw Brampton finish 6th.
Residential Construction Value saw Brampton rank just outside of the National Top 10, where it finished in 11th place.
In the Toronto Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) Brampton finished the year ranked 2nd for Total Construction Value; 3rd for Industrial; 2nd for Commercial; 2nd for Institutional; 2nd for Total Non-Residential; and 4th for Residential.
