Performance Arts Centre Construction Moves Indoors

Tuesday, Feb 21 2006, 12:00

Construction of Bramptons new Performing Arts Centre has moved indoors for the winter with bricks, glass and copper completed and new materials such as flooring and woodwork being installed inside.
“This is a significant turning point for the Brampton Performing Arts Centre,” said John Wright, Commissioner of Management and Administrative Services with the City of Brampton. “The building is now 80 per cent complete with a focus turning to the interior details that will help define the Brampton Performing Arts Centre as a world-class facility.”
Bramptons new Performing Arts Centre will be an intimate, state-of-the-art facility. The Centre will boast an 850-seat theatre, a secondary hall and community space for meetings. There will be room for small performances, as well as catering facilities and the capability to produce live broadcasts.
The new Brampton Performing Arts Centre is on schedule to open in 2006. Installation of the floor stone begins in January and installation of the wood acoustical panel is under way. Landscaping of Theatre Square is taking shape despite the cold weather.
“The new Performing Arts Centre has generated a positive economic impact long before its opening, and promises to continue revitalizing Bramptons downtown,” said City Councillor Grant Gibson, co-chair of the Brampton Performing Arts Centre steering committee.
