A recent Maclean's Magazine article on "Smart Cities" highlights the results of the Canadian Council on Learning's Composite Learning Index and ranks Brampton 13th among Canada's largest communities.
In 2009 Brampton tied with Mississauga, Halifax and Toronto on the list of major cities published by Maclean's, and is one of only a few cities with an improved score from the same study in 2007. Using the Composite Learning Index the Canadian Council on Learning rated 4,700 communities across Canada.
