On July 15th, 2008, Medtronic of Canada Ltd. broke ground on its new environmentally focused headquarters campus in Brampton at 99 Hereford Street. Mayor Susan Fennell was on hand for the celebration and welcomed Medtronic to the City of Brampton.

“We are pleased that Medtronic has decided to build its new campus in the City of Brampton," said Mayor Fennell. "We are proud they are now part of our corporate community and we welcome them to our city."

Medtronic of Canada Ltd., the Canadian subsidiary of Medtronic, Inc., held the ground-breaking ceremony to mark the imminent start of the construction of its new Canadian Headquarters, which will incorporate its training and education centre, sales, marketing, and administrative functions.

Neil Fraser, President of Medtronic of Canada Ltd. commented: “We are very excited to build this leading-edge campus with a major focus on customer education, meeting space, and employee interaction; it’s an investment for our Canadian employees and our customers and the infrastructure required for our rapid growth in Canada. We are happy to have found such a great location for this campus and we are extremely pleased to remain in Peel Region to continue to grow as we have in the last 33 years.”

The 85,000 square foot, three storey office building is the first of two phases of development. The first phase will be complete in September 2009 with 100 employees relocating from the current Mississauga location. Phase 2 will add another 92,000 square feet of office and repackaging operations. Construction is being led by Orlando Corporation utilizing a LEED philosophy (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design); there is a deliberate focus on implementing eco-friendly initiatives in the design wherever possible. From workspaces to the cafeteria, meeting rooms and fitness facilities, the Brampton campus will convey our unique purpose and vision and provide the capacity needed to support Medtronic of Canada’s growth.
