Summer Arrives at the Small Business Enterprise Centre

Tuesday, Jan 24 2006, 12:00

The Brampton Small Business Enterprise Centre (SBEC) will once again be delivering the SummerCompany program for the Brampton and Caledon areas. The Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, through its continuing Youth Entrepreneurship Strategy, has announced the sixth year for SummerCompany, a student entrepreneurship experience that will provide hands-on business training, mentoring - and awards of up to $3000 - to help enterprising young people start and run their own summer businesses. Its a great opportunity for students ages 15-29 to develop entrepreneurial skills and build the experience that comes with running a small business.
Through the summer of 2005, the SBEC and its team of volunteer mentors worked with seven winners of the SummerCompany program. These high school and college students experienced the challenges and thrills of small business ownership. The Brampton SBEC looks forward to offering awards to creative and hard-working young people again this year.
For anyone interested in learning more about the program or who has specific questions, the SBEC will be hosting two information sessions. These sessions will be offered at the SBEC, 33 Queen Street West from 3:30pm - 4:30pm on Wednesday, February 1st, 2006 or Thursday, February 2nd, 2006. Please call (905) 874-2650 to register.
For Eligibility & Guidelines, visit www.ontariocanada.com or call the Brampton SBEC @ 905-874-3630. The deadline for applications and business plans will be April 10th, 2006.
