Brampton Hotel Industry Growing Again

Construction is now underway on Bramptons newest hotel development project. The Shan Motel Company Inc. is building a Holiday Inn Express and Suites located at 10 Nevets Roads which when complete will be a five-story hotel featuring 84 suites. The new hotel joins a growing list in Brampton where 2005 saw the opening or two Marriott properties, Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott located at 150 Westcreek Boulevard and the Courtyard by Marriott at 90 Biscayne Crescent.
Overall Ontarios accommodation industry appeared to performing well in the fourth quarter of 2005. According to Statistics Canadas Business Conditions Survey for the Accommodation Industry; 36% of Ontarios hoteliers reported higher occupancy rates over the same quarter last year and 31% reported lower occupancy rates, giving a positive balance of opinion (+5 percentage points). The survey also reports a majority of hotel operators feel room rates will remain steady (47%) or rise (36%) in the coming months.
The new Holiday Inn Select and Suites will add to Bramptons exisiting accomodation inventory of 1,134 rooms. Presently half of the the hotels and motels in Brampton also offer some type of meeting facilities.
