City Welcomes New Director of Economic Development

The City of Brampton’s Economic Development office welcomes Mr. Don Eastwood as the newly appointed Director of Economic Development. Don brings a wealth of experience to the City and will play a key role in strengthening Brampton’s economic foundations and advancing opportunities for future business investment and job creation.
Don was born in Montreal but grew up in Burlington Ontario. He attended the University of Waterloo where he obtained a Bachelor of Environmental Studies in 1977.
Upon graduation, Don started his working life in the insurance industry working for Dominion Life in Waterloo before returning to University where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Economic Geography in 1982.
Soon after graduation, Don began his public sector career where he has worked for over 25 years in increasingly senior economic development roles for the City of Toronto, Halton Region, the City of Cambridge, The Town of Oakville and the Regional Municipality of York.
Don joins the City of Brampton after leaving his previous position as General Manager of the Economic Development Culture and Tourism Division at the City of Toronto where he was responsible for overall policy and strategy related to investment attraction, cultural facilities and small business development.
