Brampton Food & Beverage Companies Make Top 100

Food in Canada Magazine recently published the Top 100 Canadian Food & Beverage Processors list.
Several Brampton employers were listed among the top 20 including; Parmalat Canada, Nestle Canada Inc., Maple Leaf Foods and SunOpta Inc.
SunOpta Inc., headquartered in Brampton, is a company driven by a commitment to the health and well-being of their customers, communities and the environment, SunOpta operates three high growth, ethical business segments. The largest operating group, the SunOpta Food Group, represents over 90% of annual revenues and is focused on the fast growing natural, organic and specialty foods markets. Opta Minerals Inc. represents approximately 9% of annual revenues and is focused on processing and recycling silica free abrasives and a wide range of industrial minerals. The SunOpta BioProcess Group represents approximately 1% of revenue and is focused on the processing of biomass for the production of cellulosic ethanol and other bio-products.
In addition, four Brampton based Food & Beverage companies are listed in the top 10 key Food & Beverage manufacturers in the GTA. Included are Coca Cola Bottling, Maple Leaf Foods, Maple Lodge Farms and Quality Meat Packers Ltd.
The Food & Beverage Sector, one of the largest sectors in the province, employs over 7,000 in Brampton andis projected to grow by 2.2% in Brampton by the end of 2007.
