Churchville Planning and Heritage Study

Churchville

In 2005 the City of Brampton initiated the Churchville Planning and Heritage Study with the intent of updating the 1990 Village of Churchville Heritage Conservation District Plan to provide clearer direction for evaluating new development and infill proposals within the Village by identifying cultural/natural heritage elements and vistas that should be maintained to preserve the area’s existing character.

The City retained a team of consultants led by Bousfields Incorporated to complete the Planning and Heritage study.  The final study recommends a set of land use policies and zoning standards by setting out appropriate locations, form, scale and the density for new development or infilling within the boundaries of the Village.  During the study’s planning process, there were three public information sessions held to solicit community input.

In August 2007, City Council endorsed proposed amendments to the City’s Official Plan, Zoning By-Law and Churchville Heritage Conservation District Plan.  Following Council’s endorsement of these planning documents, 14 appeals were made to the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB).  For further information on the appeals, please contact our City Clerk’s Office directly at 905.874.2116.
