Senior citizens, 65 years of age and older, who are residents of Brampton pay $1 to ride Brampton Transit when they show their Brampton Transit Senior Identification card.

| | What is required to receive the ID card? | To be eligible to receive the Senior ID card, one piece of documentation from each of the following sections must be presented. The documents must be dated within the past six months.
Proof of Brampton address
- Driver’s license
- Household bill (telephone, TV, hydro, gas or water)
- Bank/credit card statement
- Statement of government benefits (employment insurance, old age security, social assistance or disability support)
- Property tax bill
Proof of Identity
One piece of valid government-issued identification that includes a photograph, name, and date of birth must be presented. Acceptable forms include:
- Driver’s license
- Canadian passport
- Permanent resident card
- Provincial Health Care (red/white version is not acceptable)
- Birth certificate (only if presented with a valid piece of photo ID)
Upon presentation of the above information, your picture will be taken and printed on your ID card along with your name.
Important: If you do not have the required photo identification to obtain the Senior ID card, you can contact a Service Ontario office to apply for the new Ontario Photo Card: http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/driver/photo-card.shtml | | Am I eligible to receive the Senior’s ID card? | You must be 65 years of age or older and a resident of Brampton to be eligible to receive an ID card. Non-resident seniors, or seniors without a Brampton Transit photo ID card, must pay the $3.50 cash fare, use PRESTO or passes to board the bus. | | How do I use the card? | Once you have received your ID card, you must present it to the operator every time you board a bus to be eligible to pay the $1 cash fare. Upon boarding, show the card to the operator and deposit $1 into the fare box. If you require a transfer, please ask the operator at this time.
If you do not have a card, you will be required to pay the $3.50 cash fare, use PRESTO or passes to board the bus. | | Can I still use tickets and passes? | Yes. Passes will still be made available to seniors at the existing rate. Tickets are no longer sold but are accepted by Brampton Transit. Click here to view the fares page.
If you are a frequent traveler, a weekly or monthly pass is your best option. These passes entitle you to unlimited travel for the duration of the pass and are eligible to receive a federal tax credit.
