The Brampton Sports Hall of Fame will induct five new members in 2017.
In the Builder category, Fran Rider will be inducted for her leadership role in Women’s Hockey. Mark Evans will be the third generation of his family to enter the Brampton Sports Hall of Fame, after his lifetime association with the Brampton Excelsiors lacrosse team. Another lacrosse player, member of the Canadian and Ontario Lacrosse Halls of Fame, Don Arthurs, will be inducted as a Veteran.
Two inductees will join the Hall of Fame in the Athlete category: legendary stock car racer Bill Zardo, and softball champion Kelly Craig.
The 37th Annual Brampton Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 9 at the Rose Theatre Brampton. A cocktail dinner begins at 6 pm followed by the induction ceremony and reception. The keynote speaker for this year’s event will be three-time Olympic women’s hockey player, Sami Jo Small. Sami Jo has won five World Championships, and was a member of the gold medal-winning teams at two Olympic Games. She was inducted into the Brampton Sports Hall of Fame in 2002.
