How long have you been a Crossing Guard Supervisor with the City of Brampton?

I have been a supervisor for approximately 15 years.

What does your job entail?

The Crossing Guard supervisor is responsible for the hiring and administration of the 192 crossing guards in Brampton. The location and times of the crossing locations must be determined and studies have to be completed to see if a guard is warranted.

What other duties do you perform?

I participate in “Walking to School” programs, Peel Safe and Active Routes to School Committee and Brampton School Safety Council.

What do you like most about your job?

I enjoy working with the students in the school and the fact that my daily activities vary from day to day. Also, I have the opportunity to work with people.

What do you like most about the industry (working for the City)?

I enjoy working in the schools with students and educators.

What do you think are key skills a person in this field should possess?

A supervisor in this position must be organized, work under pressure and be flexible. Good communication skills are very important while working with employees, residents and students.​​
