Mentors

Business Emergency Network

Calling all Business Continuity Professionals...

BEN is a network developed by the Brampton Emergency Measures Office and is a forum for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Brampton to gain free access to students from the York University Master of Arts in Disaster and Emergency Management program, who will consult with their business mentor to develop a business continuity plan.

Where do you fit in?

As a practising business continuity professional, you will be a volunteer mentor and guide the students in their role as business continuity consultants. Mentors will offer direction and support, providing tips and suggestions for completing business continuity plans.

Why should you be involved?

This program was, in part, created to give students a chance to gain valuable working experience in business continuity, also giving them the opportunity to network with and learn from professionals already in the field – you! And as a practitioner in this growing field, you definitely want to get to know the professionals of tomorrow as they may become your future partners or colleagues. BEN also provides SMEs with the opportunity to have business continuity plans developed specifically for their business for free. This process will have an invaluable impact on the ability of the SME in Brampton to survive through business disruptions and emergencies, thereby enhancing the long-term economic strength of the community as a whole.
