Parklands By-Law 161-83 governs the “management, control regulations, maintenance and usage of all parklands and water areas…owned by The City of Brampton for park or recreation purposes”.
This bylaw prohibits ice-skating or tobogganing on a pond, lake or waterway during the winter, except in areas that the City has designated.
If the City has not clearly designated the pond/lake for skating, then City staff are not measuring or monitoring the ice for thickness and it could be unsafe. Skating on this ice would contravene the Parklands By-Law.
