February 19 Candlelight Vigil in honour of Riya Rajkumar

Brampton City Council will host a community candlelight vigil on February 19, 2019 in memory of 11-year-old Riya Rajkumar who tragically lost her life.

The vigil will be held at Garden Square in downtown Brampton from 5:45 to 7 pm, and all members of the public are welcome to attend. Our community is grieving the tragic death of Riya Rajkumar and this is a time to come together in solidarity and remember and honour a young life.
 

The Vigil will include:
Welcome greetings (by Emcee Nikki Cedrone, Neighbourhood Watch Brampton)
Opening Prayer by Pastor Randy Neilsen (Christian)
Soloist & Piano by Brampton Music Theatre (Gabriela Farias with accompanist Mark Peterson)
Spoken Word written by Tamir Zedan and recited by Aniah Zedan
Prayer by Harmanpreet Singh (Sikh)
Words from Chief of Police Chris McCord, Peel Regional Police
Prayer by Rabbi Michal Shekel (Jewish)
Poem by Brittany Cowell, Brampton Moms Facebook Group
Prayer by Imran Ally (Muslim)
Message from Mayor Brown (delivered by Mrs.Brown)
Closing Prayer Pandit Nandalall Singh (Hindu)
Closing song by Brampton Music Theatre (Ethan Berkeley-Garcia, Kevin Zhang, Rachel Poltrok, and Gabriela Farias with accompanist Mark Peterson)

Throughout the day, join members of Beaux Art Brampton and Visual Arts Brampton in Garden Square as they share messages of hope and inspiration through chalk art.

Underground parking is available at Rose Theatre Brampton and at City Hall.
